Texas is among the state that has implemented the Freedom of Information Act. This has made the personal documents of the residents of the state open to the general public. Texas marriage records are only one of the many documents that the local residents of the state can access whenever they need it.

In Texas, marriage records are one of the most requested file of the state. Once a couple gets married, it is time for them to update their insurance and dependents. It would be difficult to request such update and changes if a couple cannot present a document that serves as proof of their marriage. Aside from that, marriage records are used when conducting genealogy research. The information that can be found on the certificate is vital in updating the family tree. Ironically, if the marriage is no longer working and the relationship leads to divorce, a marriage certificate is needed in order to process the separation.

A marriage license would highlight details about the marriage of a couple. One of the important things that are indicated on the record is the names of the bride and the groom. Requesting for a copy of a marriage certificate would cost $20. The state of Texas only releases certificates which have been registered since January 1966. The document is only given when the one who request for the document is the bride or the groom. Their immediate family members are also given access to the said file in cases where the couple is unavailable.

The office of the Vital Records section in the state of Texas does not release certified copies of the license. Such office only verifies the information given and they will direct you to where the certificate can be obtained. One has to go to the county clerk office where the marriage was registered in order to get a copy of the certificate. Another way to obtain the document is by writing a mail request addressed to the state office. Unfortunately, the result of the mail request may be sent after a while.

Public marriage records are only one of the millions of documents available through the Internet. With this, the search is easier and it can be done even at home. The results are also obtained faster than the traditional method. This is the reason why many of the people in Texas prefer to do the search online.
